About us

We are based in the Milton Ulladulla District of the Shoalhaven, NSW, Australia.

yana-mba njindiwan Aboriginal Corporation (Indigenous Corporation Number: 11749)

We are a non-profit Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation made up of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal volunteers, walking together for strong and healthy communities, culture and Country.

yana-mba njindiwan is the Dhurga language translation of Walking Together.

  • yana- = to walk

  • -mba = in an ongoing, continued action

  • yindiwan = you three or more (which is spelt 'njindiwan' when it comes after a vowel, as in 'walawaani njindiwan')

  • Dhurga uses only lowercase letters in its written form - except for the name of the language itself, which is capitalised as 'Dhurga'.

  • We would like to thank Michelle McBride for helping with this translation with advice from Trish Ellis and Gayle Nolan who work tirelessly in revitalising the Dhurga language.

‘Walking Together’ is inspired by the Uluru Statement from the Heart

We support the Uluru Statement from the Heart (2017) and its call for ‘Voice, Treaty, Truth’. The Uluru Statement ends with: “We invite you to walk with us in a movement of the Australian people for a better future.” We formed in 2023 thanks to hundreds of locals volunteering for the Voice Referendum and co-founders Mitchell Lasker, Sharon Bunyan and Georgie Lowe (non-Indigenous), who together committed to a lifelong walk in support of Aboriginal self-determination.

Walk with us towards a better future

‘Yellow fin, blue fin and black fish, are all fish.
Yellow box, blue box and black wattle are all trees.
The point I’m trying to make is:
it doesn't matter your color  if we are all
‘Walking Together’ on the same path.’
- Mitchell Lasker, proud Aboriginal man and founding member
